Flyers Sign Defenseman Sean O'Donnell
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 6’2’’, 237-pound free agent defenseman Sean O'Donnell to a one-year contract, according to club general manager Paul Holmgren.

O’Donnell, 38, appeared in 78 games with the Kings in 2009-10, recording 15 points (3G,12A) and 70 penalty minutes, while finishing fourth on the team in plus/minus (+14). He also posted one assist in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.

During his 15-year NHL career, he has appeared in two Stanley Cup Finals; New Jersey (2001) and Anaheim (2007), winning a Stanley Cup title with the Ducks in 2007, where he recorded two assists, a plus/minus rating of +8 and 10 penalty minutes in 21 games. He also began the 2000-01 season with the Minnesota Wild and served as their first captain in team history.

Over parts of 15 seasons in the NHL with the Kings (1994-95 to 1999-2000 & 2008-09 to 2009-10), Minnesota Wild (2000-01), New Jersey Devils (2000-01), Boston Bruins (2001-02 to 2003-04), Phoenix Coyotes (2005-06) and Anaheim Ducks (2005-06 to 2007-08), O’Donnell has registered 204 points (30G,174A) and 1,699 penalty minutes, and has a career plus/minus mark of +85 in 1,092 regular season games and 17 points (6G,11A) and 124 penalty minutes in 93 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, O’Donnell was originally drafted by the Sabres in the sixth round (123rd overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.

O'D is about 40 yrs old, looks like he's about 50, but is still a solid as **** and tough dman.

they better hope they can win games 1-0 b/c they're stock piling defensemen, with an already struggling offense and a waiver wire goalie

Good luck OD, one of my favs in Los Angeles. This guy will drop the gloves and stick up for any of his teammates!

Is this the offseason where Ivanans is a FA? Or is that next offseason?
