The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled 6’2”, 190-pound left wing Triston Grant and 6’2”, 220-pound defenseman Alexandre Picard from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to Interim General Manager Paul Holmgren. In addition, the team announced that center Mark Cullen and defenseman Martin Grenier were reassigned to the Phantoms.

Grant, 22, has recorded a goal and an assist for two points and 52 penalty minutes in eight games for the Phantoms this season. His 52 penalty minutes rank first on the team. He also was scoreless in three games with the Flyers this season.

A native of Neepawa, Manitoba, Grant recorded two goals and three assists for five points and 190 penalty minutes in 64 regular season games for the Phantoms last season.

Grant was selected by the Flyers in the ninth round (286th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Picard, 21, has recorded a goal and two assists for three points and two penalty minutes in six games for the Phantoms this season. He also was scoreless in five games with the Flyers this season.

Over the last two seasons with the Flyers (2005-06 and 2006-07), Picard was scoreless in 11 career NHL regular season games. He recorded seven goals and 26 assists for 33 points and 82 penalty minutes in 75 regular season games for the Phantoms during the 2005-06 season.

Cullen and Grenier each were scoreless in three games with the Flyers this season.

Thank god th Phantoms play across the street. This is getting ridiculous!

Well, Grenier hasn't done sh*t and plays defense. At least Grant won't be such a liabilty but who cares at this point in the season?

xELi 11-10-2006 04:49 PM

Grenier hasn't proven a thing. But they need someone bigger than Grant to take on Peters this sux. Peters will destroy Grant imo. Don't understand Stevens.

I think we have a better chance of seeing more fights with a guy like Grant kicking around. Sounds like he's more of a guy who can skate and hit and actually cause people to fight with him, rather than just lumber around and beg established HW's to fight with him. Also, there seems to be more fighters in his weight class than the super HW category which Grenier would probably fall under. And it's better than having Kane around, I think.

Hopefully the Flyers keep going down with a fight, I guess.

They need to make up their minds...

And the revolving door continues to rotate.

Some stability on the team wouldn´t be bad.
No wonder they don´t win.
