Flyers Re-Sign Jakub Voracek to Four-Year Contract
The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed 6-2, 214-pound forward Jakub Voracek to a multi-year contract extension, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
"We are happy to have Jake under contract and look forward to him being a big part of our future," said Holmgren. Voracek, 22 (8/15/89), recorded 49 points (18G-31A) in 78 regular season games in 2011-12, his first with the Flyers. His 18 goals were a career-high. He finished third on the Flyers in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 10 points (2G-8A) in 11 postseason games, including the game-winning-goal in overtime of Game 1 at Pittsburgh in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Penguins. A native of Kladno, Czech Republic, Voracek was acquired by the Flyers in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets on June 23, 2011. He was originally selected by Columbus in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Over parts of four seasons in the NHL, Voracek has recorded 57 goals and 126 assists for 183 points in 319 regular season games and 11 points (2G-9A) in 15 Stanley Cup playoff games. |
4,25 mils per year for 20 goals and 30 assists will be considered as a lot of money by people.
Voracek is the type of player who brings to the table much more than just points but I would sign him for like three mils per year |
Good, now his name will stop showing up in all the Bobby Ryan rumors. Ducks won't like that contract. Too much $.
|
Overpaid. Like to keep him though, but that makes him the second highest paid forward on the team I believe.
|
Fair contract. The guy is still only 22 and looks as if he will progress each year for the time being. The 4 year term is the key as I think years 3 and 4 of the deal he will be considered under paid.
He has a huge opportunity to rack up huge points this year playing with G and Harts. 60-65 is pretty relaistic and worth the money as he is very defensive resposible as well. |
this guy is not overated or over paid by any means. he had 49 pts on the 3rd line with no special teams or anything. He is gonna be playing on claude giroux's line this yr according to some sources if they dont get bobby ryan. If hartnell can score 37 goals under giroux then voracek will have more then 65 pts

Good to hear.
Like Hardhitt3n said, 49 points is pretty decent for a guy who mostly played on the 3rd line and had virtually no PP time. He'll most likely replace Jagr, so he should put up some better numbers playing with G. |

If Homer didn't give up Coots for Weber, why the fu3k would he give him up for Bobby Ryan? |
Couturier = God
|
Couturier to me is untouchable...Brayden Schenn as well. Other than those 2 and Giroux..fill your boots with any other forward we have for Ryan. Couturier wins the Selke by age 25....bank it.
|
not a terrible deal. he looks overpaid when you first see the cap hit, but he should grow into it playing w/ giroux and hartnell and getting more pp time.
i think id rather trade schenn for ryan, but i really dont even wanna do that. maybe we can steal him at the deadline? |
