Flyers interested in Ivanans? This may mean Ivanans is on his way to Philly.

no interest in ivanans. if the flyers were gonna dress an enforcer they'd just use cote. this is b/c ryan parent is coming of LTIR and we need to make space. it was either cote or bartulis (sp?)

i understand why they did this, but as a fan of hockey fights im disappointed. riley cote is great for hockey fighting, everyone here should be a fan of his.

Hope someone picks him up, but I don't see that happening.

It's a shame, I'd love to see him go where and be able to do his job, however I just don't see it happening. He is one dimensional, and while he is exciting he is just not a top heavy. He was great to have in Philly, exciting, had a great run a few seasons back. But me and I'm sure the rest of the Flyers faithful aren't surprised at all that this happened. It was only a matter of time.

I think this is one of the rare cases where being put on waivers is actually good for the player. If nobody picks him up then atleast he will have the chance to prove himself in the AHL instead of sitting in the press box every night.

I agree. At least he can play the game he loves in front of fans at the AHL level, continue to fight and we will be able to see it. It was a shame how he was buried this whole year.

Think Montreal will grab him? I doubt it, but hope so. They can go from a guy who never fights with cobwebs on his gloves, to a guy who always fights who's gloves are already halfway off.

You make a good point, I'm sure Riley will be much more happy being able to play on a regualr basis down in the AHL rather than sit up in the box in the NHL every game. Atleast down there he gets to play the game and do his job. I highly doubt we'll ever see him in the NHL on a regular basis again, if at all, but he'll still be getting paid pretty well to play hockey.

You must not be familiar with the Phantom's new head coach. Nothing will be different for Cote if he gets sent down, he will continue to dress in suits for game nights. Pierre ****ing McGuire is a bigger endorser of fighting than this lunatic. Normally, they have 2 of the most active fighters in the league - Matt Clackson and Garrett Klotz - and still they managed just TWO fights AS A TEAM for the whole month of February.... tells you all you need to know about that team and their sillyass coach, a Mr. Greg Gilbert.

Plus you'll go from a guy who almost never loses, to a guy who almost never wins!

Unfortunetly I am familiar with Gilbert as he was the Marlies coach last year. You make a good point but surely he will play in a few more games in the AHL than he would if he were to stay in the NHL.

But at least he try's and gives it all he has. In this case, I would take quantity over quality. Shame on the Flyers organization.

I haven't seen the Phantoms this year but its funny, because watching the Marlies over the last few years I wouldn't have said that Gilbert was anti-fighting. In his first couple seasons when JFJ was GM, he had almost no toughness and yet still put up 50+ FMs. Then last year with with Burke in charge, Jackson went out and got Rosehill and he played him without a leash. He played most playoff games I think too. Same for Deveaux and Oreskovic. They put up 72 FMs without a heavy leading the charge.

I feel for Phantoms fans because thats a pretty drastic drop. Anyways, I hope a team like Chicago or Montreal takes a run at him. Not expecting it though.
