Interesting...well if it is true, a real warrior of the game is likely done.

LOL. They brought up Harry Z to clean the showers most likely.
Seriously though,Jody is a great dude. These puds around here
really treated him like crap for the most part. They should have
waived him awhile ago or traded him back to Columbus to finish
out his career where he made a name for himself. Vagiolette never
used him but said,"oh,he's a great team guy, knows his role blah blah".

What is Shelley even worth at his age? A conditional 7th round pick in 2021 and future considerations?

I don't care if we get a flat bus tire back for him. It's more about letting Shelley go to a team that would play him, such as Columbus. I bet Blue Jackets fans would love to see the guy come back for his swan song.

Sad story.
I hope that he still collects his $1M for this year.

He is still the 2nd most popular Blue Jacket (behind Nash) and ne hasn't skated here in years.......good man...

It's just so sad to see the best guys in the game (talking off ice) get abused by coaches and this soft society which is influencing the game.

He might find his way back to finish the year there. Even anti-enforcer fans liked him and he might have a job there when he retires too.

The link says a hip injury , he has played in only one game for the Flyers this season , he must have injured his hip pushing cars in the recent snow-storm ..

Sad to see. With his age, and lack of playing time this season, I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen the last of Jody Shelley. Won't say too much yet, but if he is done, he was a hell of a fighter and awesome to watch over the past 15+ seasons.

I've been following Shelley before he ever made it to the NHL. He was a warrior and had a great career very sad to see him go out like this. I still remember his 3 fight game against Probert, good stuff.

They should put "IR" in quotes, because I'm not buying the injury story either. It's a damn shame from a team that has built its reputation on intimidation and enforcing. Hopefully he's not done and he goes to a team where he can play at least one more season before hanging them up.
