I bet it's bullsh!t. They just need a reason to put him on IR. I don't know why they didn't just waive him a long time ago and let him go to a team that wants him. I just don't buy the hip injury story. He went from "being in the lineup vs. the Leafs" last night to going on IR today and having hip surgery next week. A nice little package of bullsh!t to warm us up for the State of the Union address tonight.

i should have put the known part in quotes but

the problem with waiving him, is that if no one wants him, the flyers are stuck with him in philly or adirondack. a trade where the flyers take some of his salary might entice someone, but that's about it.
