Flyers offer Coburn new contract

Quote:
The Philadelphia Flyers have made a contract offer to potential restricted free-agent defenceman Braydon Coburn.

Coburn said that he was not aware of such an offer, while Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren indicated the offer was made to Coburn's agent, Edmonton-based Gerry Johannson.

"I made a two-year offer to him," Holmgren told the Burlington County Times. "Maybe Braydon and his agent should talk more."

Coburn, 25, is in his fourth season in the NHL. A first round draft pick (8th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2003, Coburn was traded to the Flyers on Feb. 24, 2007 for Alexei Zhitnik.

If it's low cap hit, then I'm okay with it. He has shown flashes of potential, and he's a big boy with a huge stride, could be a solid d-man, but he ain't there right now. If we can hang on to him for a low cap hit, then 2 more year should be enough time to see if this kids a dud or not.

Potentially what could we get compensation wise?

Good...thats all he's worth. Dude sucks. Best game he played all year was the one verse detroit and he still nearly screwed the game up with a near turnover in the 3rd.

Holmgreen's comment about him talking to his agent is great. Sounds to me like Homer's not thrilled with Coburn either.
