Flyers Obtain Kyle McLaren

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have acquired defenseman Kyle McLaren from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a sixth round draft pick in 2009. McLaren has been assigned to the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

McLaren, 31, has six assists and 17 penalty minutes in 17 games with San Jose’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Worcester Sharks this season. In 719 career NHL games with San Jose and the Boston Bruins over 12 seasons (1995-96 to 2007-08), the 6-4, 235-pounder has 46 goals and 161 assists for 207 points and 671 penalty minutes. In 70 career playoff games, he has one goal and 13 assists for 14 points and 78 penalty minutes.

A member of the 1996 NHL All-Rookie Team, McLaren was traded to San Jose by Boston along with a fourth round draft choice in 2004 for Jeff Hackett and Jeff Jillson on January 23, 2003. He was originally drafted by Boston in the first round (ninth overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

A 6th rounder for Kyle McLaren? Are you ****ing kidding me? I can't believe he went so cheap. Win Flyers by TKO.
McLaren is the man.

something tells me McLaren is not going to be on the big club. For a 6th rounder though is kind of cheap.

McLaren has been injured for almost 3 months now. That's probably why he went so cheap.

mclaren's salary is almost if not 3 million dollars at least? upshall wouldnt give enough room for them both to fit in.
