Yeah nobody likes to lose toughness but I don't see how you can bitch do you want to finish 13th every year in the East, plus this makes your forwards that much better god forbid you lose Matt Walker who barely played only 2 years ago.

No need for much of any toughness in the Sout East Division.

Great trade by the Lightning. If Gagne can stay healthy and Lecavalier can even come close to regaining his form from a couple of seasons ago Tampa Bay's offense is going to be scary as hell.

Exactly! Anyone saying we got robbed doesn't understand our cap
situation and hasn't seen Gagne play/injured for the last few years.
This free's up some some space and we get a tough crease clearing
D Man in Walker plus a pick. People expecting much more then that
better get in line at the next amusement park ride. Best of luck to Gags
but it was time to say goodbye and shed some money.

The team now has no toughness. That is unless you want to count Ryan Malone (getting paid as much as Gagne), or Steve Downie (who's finally coming around offensively) to protect the 50 goal scoring Steven Stamkos.....or Simon Gagne's soft ass.

I don't care where this club finishes. Hockey is entertainment....and fighting is its best element of the game. I dont think i really have to say something like that on Hockeyfights.com

Yes obviously everyone enjoys the physicality of the sport however there still is a game to be played and when you play you're usually trying to win not just beat the **** out of the opponent, If you want pure fighting you're better off just watching UFC.

Well i'm more concerned with this club getting the **** beat out of it. And I'll watch both, Patt.

I agree, but thats the wrong attitude for people here. Most just want to watch guys fight, not actual hockey, I know thats strange.

Fighting is a bi product of hockey. In particular, physical hockey. If you have a club full of soft skill players, the games are generally boring as all hell.

There's nothing wrong with someone being a fan of hockey fighting. Especially since most of hockey these days is completely devoid of the elements which made us all a fan in the begin with. Last year's Lightning club was one of the more entertaining teams i've seen. If they won or lost is really secondary.

Tampa actually looks like they're going to be a good team. They'll be tough to watch, but they'll be good. Still, theres time to bulk up and I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if McGrattan ends up with the Bolts.

The Southeast is a disgrace to the NHL and is gonna get fukin run! Id love to see Atlanta just wipe out everyone in the division, including the Caps. And if they dont, the Atlantic teams will.

gagne had a pretty good 2nd rd of playoffs and an ok 3rd round of playoffs, but hes been injury prone. I love the guy to death but someone had to go and the way leino and giroux played in the playoffs they can easily give you the goals gagne did as well as zherdev.. This makes philly prolly the toughest team in the nhl next yr

Fair point about your team getting the **** kicked out of it although it has never discouraged the Wings who have been successful, I can understand being upset about losing Konopka and some other toughness but when you get a deal like that, a 30 goal scorer for somebody that will fight 5-8 times and not much else that's pretty hard to pass up I know this is the wrong site to preach that but I feel most people would understand.

i'm surprised that Philly got that much in return to begin with, they are so inept with free agents and contracts they should have had to drop players that other teams get for free, or they should just take the penalty for being as dumb as they are. TB looks good offensively on paper, but i don't see how Gagne will improve the team in the standings. I do like Gagne however.

Toughest team in the east for sure. But Edmonton's roster is looking nasty right now.

I hate when people play that card...

Name me one other team that has been successful in the postseason being pillow soft.
