I actually agree with the suspension. Carcillo should have just droped the gloves and pummeled Talbot. Its kind of dumb what he did based on all the talk of stiffer calls on heads shots, why would he even motion a stick to a guys head that late in the game?

he took the face off and won it and started playing hockey, yea he gave him a gloved shot but it was definately no stick and definatly no worse then the knee kunitz had on timonen. fact of the matter is sean avery hit tim thomas in the back of the head few wks back and the whole world saw it, and nothing came of that.

You know, I can understand the league wanting to send a message an sh*t but I long for the days when Calgary and Edmonton would go to war and spill blood on the ice. The time when you KNEW that the players gave a damn and would do what it took to win.

Big money coming into the game took a lot of the passion away and now these rule changes seem to be taking away the rest. I have been in OZ for two years now and am not really missing hockey.

This had nothing to do with Crosby being on the team. The NHL explicitly said they were cracking down on "message sending" stuff.

Do I agree with those crackdowns? Hell no. Should that love tap be a suspension? Hell no. However, it was definitely "message sending" and Carcillo's reputation isn't necessarily one of the best around the league. Dumb move on his part to put himself in that position, but it was for sure ticky tacky.

Guerin flat out instigates a fight and gets nothing extra for it and on the ensuing face off Carcillo hits a guy with his glove on the follow thorugh from the faceoff and gets a game suspension. Bull $hit!! I guess it was ok what Guerin did because his team was winning and that wasn't "sending a message". Horse F'ing $hit!!

How the hell did Guerin instigate it. Let's hear it. Him and Coburn were going back and forth after the hit on Staal, and then on the ensuing faceoff, Coburn slashes him in the legs so Guerin cross checked him back and they fought. Show me the instigator in that.
