Florida recalls Jeff Taffe from Rochester
(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled forward Jeff Taffe.
Taffe returns to South Florida for the second time in a week after completing a brief two-game stint in his first promotion to the big club last week. He will join the team Wednesday morning and will be eligible to skate in Florida's National Hockey League contest that night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the BankAtlantic Center. The Hastings, Minnesota, native logged 11:24 of ice time in his Panthers debut in Florida's 6-5 shootout win over the Dallas Stars on October 30th. In his nine appearances with the Amerks this season, Taffe, 28, has recorded seven points (4+3) and four penalty minutes. He is currently tied for sixth in the league with his four goals and remains tied for fourth on the Amerks in overall points. Taffe appeared in eight NHL games last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he tallied two assists and two penalty minutes. In 155 career NHL games with Phoenix, New York, Pittsburgh and Florida, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward has totaled 42 points (20+22) and 36 penalty minutes.
