Florida Calls Up MacIntyre
The Florida Panthers have called up winger Steve MacIntyre from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Rochester.
Since being claimed Nov. 10 from Edmonton, the 6-5, 260-pound MacIntyre has played in two games with the Amerks. He has no points and 13 penalty minutes. MacIntyre, who was signed by the Panthers originally in July of 2008 but claimed off waivers by the Oilers two months later, played in only 26 NHL games in little over a year in Edmonton. Panthers coach Pete DeBoer recently referred to MacIntyre as a “monster of a guy” who is well aware of his role. “You always like guys who know their jobs and know their roles and Big Mac was very clear was his job was – that was to make sure no one took liberties with any of our players and create room for guys on the ice,” he said. When acquiring MacIntyre, GM Randy Sexton said; “We’re building a team that’s capable of holding its own physically with anybody. Steve is a good, physical player.” Last edited by Thrillhouse; 11-25-2009 at 11:27 AM. |

Good for him and more importantly the fuked up organization. Two big hitters coming to town. I would expect Macintyre to give Brashear a tough fight tonight if they go because of his size and capabilities to switch hands. Orrs for another day..

Well well well, finally a good reason to watch the Panthers. Let's hope we get big Mac and Brash tonight.

Great news, but its too bad he is going to play in the Southwest division.
There is really nobody, aside from Bolton (maybe), that he can scrap with. Tampa has a fairly tough team, but nobody really to fight Mac. He will certainly be fun to watch against the tougher Eastern teams and will give the Panthers a "secutity blanket", for example, the Booth incident probably wont happen when he's playing. |

As I posted in the possible fights thread, it appears Big Mac will be IN tonight against the Rangers and Friday against the Leafs.
