Flames Sign Jeff Friesen
Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager and Head Coach Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of forward Jeff Friesen.
Jeff Friesen split the 2005-06 season between Washington and Anaheim posting 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 51 games. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native has scored 504 points (212 goals, 292 assists) and 454 penalty minutes in 821 NHL career games with San Jose, Anaheim, New Jersey and Washington. The 6’1” 205 lbs. forward has appeared in 79 NHL career playoff games posting 33 points (18 goals, 15 assists) and 46 penalty minutes. During the 2003 playoffs the 29 year-old captured a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils posting 14 points in 24 post season games. The San Jose Sharks drafted Friesen in the first round, 11th overall, in the 1994 Entry Draft.

That's more than his recent play is worth in my opinion. If it's the Jeff Friesen of season's past, good move by the Flames to further bolster their offense. If it's the Friesen of recent days, might as well make him a healthy scratch.

good move by calgary. i think jeff friesen will play next season like he did with the devils were it was about 25 goals 30 assists type season because this past season he was injured a lot and he was on the capitals which were a pretty bad team last year.
