Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager and Head Coach Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of forward Jeff Friesen.

The 6’1” 205 lbs. forward has appeared in 79 NHL career playoff games posting 33 points (18 goals, 15 assists) and 46 penalty minutes. During the 2003 playoffs the 29 year-old captured a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils posting 14 points in 24 post season games.

That's more than his recent play is worth in my opinion. If it's the Jeff Friesen of season's past, good move by the Flames to further bolster their offense. If it's the Friesen of recent days, might as well make him a healthy scratch.

good move by calgary. i think jeff friesen will play next season like he did with the devils were it was about 25 goals 30 assists type season because this past season he was injured a lot and he was on the capitals which were a pretty bad team last year.

He spent most of last season with the Caps and was traded to the Ducks late in the season.

I like this trade. Friesen has a knack for being on teams that go deep into the playoffs.

I think Sutter will like his style and at 1.3 million it seems like a good fit.
