Flames Sign Garth Murray and Riley Armstrong

Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of centre Garth Murray and forward Riley Armstrong.

Murray, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, has over 100 games of NHL experience split between Phoenix, Florida, Montreal and the New York Rangers. Murray was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 3rd round (79th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Armstrong, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has spent the past five seasons in the American Hockey League with both Cleveland and Worcester, the San Jose Sharks minor league affiliates. Armstrong played two games last year for the San Jose Sharks earning two penalty minutes. He is coming off his best professional season having notched 25 goals and 17 assists for 42 points and 101 penalty minutes in 71 games

Nice pick ups! Adding some grit to an already gritty team.

Riley is Colby's Brother, I beleive

Good..

I think Garth Murray should have another chance in the NHL. I think he is better then quite a few guys on that team atm.

O NVM, I read Florida.

He will probably spend some time in the minors

Let's just hope that the signing of Murray doesn't result in Godard not ending up in Calgary.

I know Murray's not a full-fledged HW, but he's fought them over the years.

Yes, that's exactly my point.

I'm pissed that the Caps lost Brash and are making no efforts to get anyone to do the job.

I wouldn't want to deprive the Pens of their precious Sid protector. Hopefully, seeing what Godard has been doing for Sid will tell McPhee he needs someone to do the same for OV.
