Calgary, AB – The
Calgary Flames announced today the signing of defenseman
Chris Butler to a two year contract worth $1,250,000 per season.
“We are very pleased to have Chris signed for the next two years." said Flames general manager Jay Feaster. " This enables him to focus solely on preparing for the upcoming season and not have to worry about his contract status. We are confident that he is going to make a very solid contribution to our team, and we look forward to welcoming him to Camp in September.”
Butler, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, spent the last three seasons with the
Buffalo Sabres accumulating five goals and 31 assists along with 66 penalty minutes in 155 games. He was originally drafted by Buffalo in the 4th round (96th overall) in the 2005 NHL Draft.
Calgary acquired Butler along with Paul Bryon on a draft day trade with the
Buffalo Sabres in exchange for
Robyn Regehr, Alex Kotalik and Calgary’s 2nd pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
