Flames Re-Sign Curtis Glencross
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today the signing of forward Curtis Glencross to a four year $10.2 million dollar contract.
Glencross, a native of Provost, Alberta, is coming off a career season with the Flames where he netted a career high 24 goals along with 19 assists for 43 points in 79 games. Glencrosss just completed his third season with the Flames and has amassed 142 points in 291 career games since entering the league in 2006-07 with the Anaheim Ducks. "It's nice to set myself with the season I had last year,” said Curtis Glencross. “The confidence that the coaching staff and organization had in me helped as we moved forward through the year. Signing this new deal and knowing that the organization has faith me in is another confidence booster going into next season." |
The numbers on the deal are pretty decent but it's funny to see that Feaster is carrying on with Sutter's tradition of giving NTC/NMC to anyone and everyone.

I thought the same thing, too. A good signing for the price, but having another NMC on the roster isn't a good thing.

I like Glennie, has good speed, seems to fit into the system, had a career year but I agree with everyone's thoughts on the NMC.

Ken King, Jay Feaster & Craig Conroy to make some major announcements at 2:30MT.
obviously to announce the Glencross signing, but what else can we expect? i would say they make Feaster GM and take the interim tag off. |
Good signing for Calgary.

Kind of a good news/bad news signing with pros and cons.
I was really hoping Glencross was going to hit the open market, the way he had been talking of late, it sounded as if he was looking for a real big payday and I didn't think the Flames had a prayer in re-signing him - he could have got well over 3 mill/year had he waited until July 1, but I guess he really wanted to stay in Alberta, close to home. But, at the same time, here's another player who the Flames hope will continue to overachieve with yet another no trade claus. Since Feaster took over its like one step forward, another one back. Its crazy. But oh well - its a good cap hit for a servicable player, but I have no idea if Glencross can be a consistent 20 goal man or if he just hit his peak. It'll be another immovable contract on their hands if thats the case... |
Not a bad deal, but I think Glencross should have tested the waters and seen what he would have gotten offered on July 1st
|
Nice signing. He brings it everynight.
|
Overpayed and too long. Glenncross will not repeat his season.
Remember Fernando Pisani after his career season in Edmonton? |
