Flames and Brent Sutter Part Ways

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that Brent Sutter and the organization have reached a mutual agreement to conclude coaching duties. In addition, the contract of assistant coach Dave Lowry will not be renewed.

“Brent Sutter and I met and discussed a number of issues regarding the hockey team and the future,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “Brent and I explored many options and ultimately determined that it is best to proceed in different directions. Brent is a great person and an excellent hockey coach. On behalf of the Calgary Flames, we sincerely appreciate his hard work, dedication and commitment to our organization, and we wish him every success. We also appreciate the important contributions of Dave Lowry.”

“After discussions with Jay since the season ended, it was in the best interest of the organization and myself to part ways,” said Brent Sutter. “I wish the Calgary Flames all the best.”

I honestly have no idea how he made it this long. What this hopefully means is better days for the Flames fans because they need a total makeover.

The guy gets what he deserves.
He bailed on the Devils and left us scrambling to replace him and that led to the disastrous 'John MacLean Experiment' that scuttled our season. Now he can truly "spend more time with his family".

Har har!

They should hire Theo Fleury as coach. That would be fun.

Has to be at the 2012 NHL Draft in Pittsburgh, PA. That's where maximum value comes in.

I'm not a Devils fan obviously but can fully understand your feelings about Sutter.
I'd probably feel the same way!
It was like when Mike Hampton left the Mets for Colorado and said it was because of the school system in Colorado.
No he left for the most money and should of just said that. It made Met fans angry and we were happy when he flopped in Colorado!
