Flames Assign Godard and Ference to Omaha
Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today that the Flames have assigned forward Eric Godard and defenseman Brad Ference to Omaha (AHL).

The Flames opening day roster consists of 23 players

No surprise at all, Flames are way to stacked up front for Godard to play regularily. I don't think he had much of a chance to gain a roster spot.

But if Parros and Boogaard dress in nights against Calgary during divisional games, you can bet the Flamers may call him up as an insurance policy....

so far TB, Carolina, Calgary, Edmonton, Florida, Dallas, Vancouver are all enforcerless. Ill be sure to get center ice and go to games this year

this totally sux...with the signing of parros in colorado maybe they will bring him up, i know wishful thinking ..

This doesnt make sense at all, they have these storys of picking up Godard and for the toughness and they need him to protect Iginla and stuff, why do you send him down, this is ridiculous, I hear good news than bad news, than good news than bad news every day, Ivanans staying with kings, then to Godard gettin sent down, he better be called up seriously..........

I may be wrong but I believe Godard would have to clear waivers to be sent back down. SO to call him up for divisional games may be outta the question.
