Flames Acquire Mike Cammalleri for Rene Bourque
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today that they have acquired former Flame centre Michael Cammalleri, goaltender Karri Ramo and a 5th round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forwards Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland and a 2nd pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
“Mike Cammalleri is a dynamic player who enjoyed great success playing in Calgary,” stated Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “We believe Cammalleri will help our offensive production, solidify a second scoring line, bolster our power play, and bring another strong veteran voice to our room. We are confident that a return to Calgary will be good for Mike and good for our continued pursuit of a playoff berth.” Cammalleri, a native of Richmond Hill, ON, has nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 37 games for the Montreal Canadiens this season. He spent the 2008-09 season with Calgary setting a career high while leading the team with 39 goals, 19 on the power play which was second in the league. He also added 43 assists for a total of 82 points which was also a career high and good for 13th in league scoring. |

Wow! Whether you hate Cammalleri or not for what he said, can the Habs honestly say that trade couldn't wait another hour? Talk about classless.

BecaUSE Cammy was unprofessional as well. Why be a pro with him when he's utterly classless himself? He threw everyone under the bus. You think Price practices and plays like a loser?? Guys like Moen and Cole and Patches? Gionta even? I'd smack him for talking that ****.
The others yeah, get rid of them all. |

I think him getting pulled had more to do with making sure he doesnt get hurt. Happens in baseball all the time.

Gauthier probably thought Bourque is a Quebecer. But he's from Alberta.

"We will try to add more and more size on our top 2 lines. This is what we did tonight, and this probably is what the next moves will do. We had a lot of small players and in the actual NHL, it looks to me that more and more goals are scored by big guys. Those are tough goals to score, deflections... We need players that can score around the goalie. Actually, we were having too mabny players of the same small size, but we also have too many defensemen that are too small... I'm thinking about Diaz and Weber." I hope we keep beefing up. |

Pierre Gauthier is seriousley entering Rejean Houle territory,He is focking horrific! I expected Cammalleri to be moved due to his big contract ,Im not upset he was traded but how it was done And of course all the Hab Haters will say how terrible this trade is didnt Bourque score 27 goals a year the last two years?? on A Team that isnt that great?? he is 6'2" 215 pounds ! Arent the Habs always referred to as being Smurfs,Gnomes too small?? Now maybe Gomez will be sent to Hamilton??

On paper, to me, it is a win for MTL. Yes they most likely get a player who will not score as much as Cammo, but in return they get a guy who can put up 20-25 goals, and adds size to an otherwise very small team. He also free's up some money to do something else. If MTLs owners could be talked into sending Gomez to the minors, this team may start to have a future, sooner rather than later. |
