Erik Cole Fined for Slew-Foot
 

NEW YORK - Montreal Canadiens forward Erik Cole has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for slew-footing Edmonton Oilers defenseman Jeff Petry in NHL Game #1008 in Edmonton on Thursday, March 8, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 11:48 of the second period. Cole was assessed a minor penalty for tripping.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Crap call from what I saw live (no replay). Cole hits Petry shoulder-to-shoulder, and they both fall on the ice an ackward way.

It was a Slew-foot, but accidental.

It was a clear slew foot and not accidental, and he deserved to be fined. He went right to the box with his head down because he new he was in the wrong.
