Erik Christensen placed on waivers

Center Erik Christensen was placed on waivers, meaning other teams have until 9 a.m. Tuesday to claim him or the Ducks can re-assign him to the minor leagues.

Coach Randy Carlyle said that if Christensen wasn’t claimed, they would like him to try to improve and regain confidence at the lower level.

Christensen, who was coming off shoulder surgery this summer, had no points in six games and was a healthy scratch the past two games.

You don't want him. He is a shootout specialist and AHL talent at best. Plus if he lost any pop from his shoulder then his wrist shot is proably terrible and thats his best shot. Christensen should be in the AHL or Europe. So overhyped.

Right, so he would be an improvement over what I've seen from the Hurricanes.

with the level of talent the canes have, most of which shouldn't be in the NHL, he'd fit right in.


ill admit i was suprised that when the flyers put a asskicking on the canes saturday, that the canes actually tried to take the game out to the alley and start some fights. thats something i haven't seen from the canes in forever.

Strangely, Hitchbleep has coveted this guy for a while. Wouldn't be surprised if the CBJ picked him up.

Neither would I. I remember back when the Pens acquired Hossa the Blue Jackets kept trying to get Christensen from the Pens around that same time. Although it is past noon so I guess he wasn't claimed.
