Lindros broke into the league at the same time that I was starting to really become interested in improving myself as a hockey player and learning more about the game. In a way I think Lindros is part of the reason why I love tough hockey and hockey fighting in general. For his 6 years of dominance I have never seen someone that young dominate opposing teams the way that Lindros could.

I am far from a fan of all of his off-ice antics and the drama that followed him through-out his career...but as far as watching a player play the game, I dreamed about being able to play exactly like this guy (with the exception of taking the same hits) and I am actually a little sad to see him go out the way he is.
Good point BM. I have always tried to model my play after Lindros (minus the watching the puck). The guy was amazing, he leaned into some of the most bone-crushing hits, he also finished every check like it was his job (because it is), he fought and stood up for his teammates, and scored some amazing goals. He is everything yu want in a hockey player, and I feel privileged to be able to grow up watching the guy.

Hmmmmm.... Eric Lindros announces his retirement the week the NHL inducts players into the Hall of Fame. Kind of Ironic.........Don't you think.....The NHL had never seen a player with the speed, skill and size Lindros had. His career in short was a bit of a disappointment but could he have ever lived to the enormous hype? Unfortunately, he and his Parents caused most of his off ice hoopla. It will always be a bit of the baggage that will be carried with him where ever he goes. Almost played against him in junior one year but he jumped ship because he knew what was in store

ok...first this is and was my fav player...you know, met numerous of times, both from London, both went to UWO,lifted weights together on campus, at the same time, moved to PEI and he came there with the Flyers in the summer for a camp.....

1. It was the Quebec ownership he didn't like....not the city or team..anyways....back on point..

to sum it up....he entered the league as a baby.....and he left the league as a man....

See you in the HOF.......Bobby Clarke agrees....

The guy had one of the most feared forechecks in the history of the game. Anyone remember the '91 Canada Cup and the number of opposing player's shoulders he dislocated, and how many collarbones he broke while ABSOLUTELY DRILLING GUYS into the wall?

Although it wasn't the greatest run, It was awesome to see Eric play for the Leafs.

At first I thought there was no way that Lindros gets into the HOF. Now that I took a step back and thought about things, there's no doubt in my mind that he deserves it. He revolutionized the game in my opinion. We will never see another Lindros ever again.

Could Lindros have lived up to the hype? Sure he could have. Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby all had as much hype and lived up to it (so far, in the case of Crosby). Huge difference in the style of play and the toll Lindros' game would have on his body, of course.

Oh- good thing Lindros got out of the way for ya, huh?

Yup. And in the long run, what didn't those guys have (or will have) that lindros had.... a physical game. up until the 2000-2001 he was great. even after that he was still better then most.

erick retires

give credit were credit is due(not a lindros fan)!!!!!
if bobby clark is willing to swallow his pride and give
erick his support we the fans can do the same .......
with all the awards he has won he belongs in the HHOF......
one of my favorite players is in (neely) and does not have
half the awards lindros has (olympic gold and all)
we all should wish him the best of luck he made the
right decision (he should have retired 5 years ago).......

Incredible 6 or 7 year run as a Flyer and a dominate player during this time.

Too many injuries given his style of play and was basically non-existant for the last 5 or 6 years of his career.

No 500 goals, no 1,000 points, no Cups = No Hall
