Eric Godard Out Four to Six Weeks
Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma announced that forward Eric Godard will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a groin injury.
"Eric Godard is 4-6 weeks with a groin injury," Bylsma said. "He is still be evaluated with where he is at with that. It will be long term." Godard left the Penguins' 4-2 victory over the NY Rangers at Madison Square Garden Monday night in the first period and did not return. He has not practiced since suffering the injury. |

There was fear it was his ACL but this is worse. Its bad enough he can barely skate, but now he will proably have to be extra easy on it.
The Penguins will add no more muscle and thats a shame. They will let Mike Rupp be the heavy out there. You might see Engelland recalled if they can dump Skoula eventually. UPDATE: Godard may require surgery and if thats the case, which looks likely, he will be out all season, including the playoffs as well. This opens an extra forward position as well and word is the Pens WILL NOT recall any more "muscle"

Wade Brookbank could get the call if teams start taking liberties...
Although Engelland is an option, I don't see him getting the call in response to a Godard injury. He is relatively small as far as HW's go and is a dman. I don't see the Pens bringing up a dman explicitly for enforcing duties.

That sucks! I saw this when the play happened and it didn't look good.
Hope he gets back soon.

Wow that really sucks. On the bright side however, at least now I won't have to watch any more Penguins games.

Sucks for Godard. How can you injure your groin when you
play 3 minutes a game? Not stretching properly? Must be a freak thing or turn that made him tweak the area? The Pens should at least bring up Engelland or give Little Boogey a try out for a couple games on the fourth line. He can't hurt the team getting the minutes Godard was getting can he? |

That's ****! If he and Brashear went off the draw, this could have been avoided.

Well this just effing blows. Rupp is NOT a deterrent, and I will bet you that teams will start taking liberties with our stars, starting tonight with the Sens. They need to call up Brookbank ASAP, rather than take the Capitals' route and dress next to no muscle just so that they can roll 4 lines like in the playoffs. Eff that shyt.

I hope Ivanans is reading this! Drop the gloves when you have a chance or you can get injured trying to skate like a goal scorer!

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but Rupp did a fine though reluctant job as an enforcer for the Devils, fighting everyone from Braydon Coburn to Colton Orr depending on the situation, it's not like the Pens had Godard and no one else with even a shred of toughness. They'll be fine.

You can easily injure your groin if you get 3mins a game. You're not warm when you get into game situations, your body is stiff.

Yup, your more likely to pull your groin only playing 3 mins than 15 mins....Especially when there is a lot of time between mins.
