Edmonton Signs Ryan Keller to One-Year Deal

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with free agent forward Ryan Keller on a one-year contract.

Keller, 27, played in 71 games last season with the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League collecting 51 points (32G, 19A).

The 5’11”, 186-pound Saskatoon, SK native was the captain of the Senators and helped lead them to their first Calder Cup Championship last year. In 23 post-season games he scored 10 goals and added 15 assists for 25 points.

Keller played his junior with the Saskatoon Blades from 2001-2004 and recorded 237 points (120G, 117A) in 251 games. He was also a member of Team Canada at the 2002 IIHF World U18 Championship.

TSN is reporting it's a 1 year, 2 way deal for $625k.

He's about 16th-18th on the depth chart for F - this is a depth signing. They want to win in OKC.

Maybe there is hope in Edmonton? Finally, a guy in charge who doesn't believe Lennart Petrell is a legitimate roster player.

Absolutely for AHL depth, good to see that we want to win in OKC. Similar to the Giroux signing last year.

Awesome guy to have on the farm, he was instrumental in Bingo's Cup run with 25 points in 23 playoff games.

I'm surprised Ottawa didn't re-sign him for the farm club.
