Ed Jovanovski Suspended Two Games
TORONTO – Phoenix Coyotes' defenseman Ed Jovanovski has been suspended for two games, without pay, for an incident in NHL game #436 against the Minnesota Wild, December 7, the National Hockey League announced today.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Jovanovski will forfeit $67,357.52. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. At 9:34 of the third period, Jovanovski delivered a forearm to the head area of Minnesota's Andrew Ebbett. No penalty was assessed on the play. Jovanovski will miss Thursday's game at Los Angeles and Dec. 12 against San Jose. He will be eligible to return Dec. 14 at Detroit. |
good what a douche.......im pissed no one on the wild went after him, we already lost the game due to playing badly

What?
He just caught him up high with his glove. Should have been 2 minutes for roughing and that's it. |

Great hit. Jovo steps up, arms tucked in and makes Ebbett pay for skating with his head down. He's only at fault for being bigger than Ebbett and if they're the same size there's no issue here. No excuse for the Wild not to respond and absolutely no need for Colin Campbell to get his greasy fingers all over this play.

I could care less if he's suspended or not. I want to see justice on the ice. Then again, that takes someone on the Wild to grow a sack and stand in for a teammate... and sadly, Nathan Smith is down in Houston.
****ing pathetic we have to count on Nathan Smith of all guys to settle scores. |
Where's Matt Walker when you need him...

Pest or not, how come the rules magically don't apply to Duncan Keith for trying to remove the head of Matt Cooke? By the way, Jovo has always been somewhat dirty. I just watched the hit and I really didn't think it was all that bad, but it was completely unnecessary, and the league is trying to send a message to stay away from the head. Mike Richards is lucky his hit didn't happen last week or he would be gone 20 games.

Jovanovski definitely caught Ebbett up high with a forearm. I don't have a huge problem with a suspension on this play except for inconsistency to continue running rampant when it comes to handing out suspensions. And of course the Wild should have responded much more forcefully on the ice at the time of the hit to hold Jovanovski accountable.
