Duncan Keith Suspended Five Games

That was a pretty bad elbow that Keith clearly went out of his way to throw at Sedin. Even without a history of suspensions, given that he caused an injury and may have called his shot by threatening revenge from Sedin's earlier hit, I think 5 seems fair. If he had a significant history of discipline with the league it would probably have ended up a lot longer.

While Sedin's hit on Keith earlier did make principal contact with the head, I don't really think it was suspension worthy. I'd rather have just seen Keith jump the guy (which would never happen) than do something as blatantly illegal like this elbow. But, I bet you that's the last time you see Sedin finish a check for a LONG time.

Yes I do. And if it happened to more Canucks I would be even happier. They got a whole team of players I would love to see injured. Compared to the teams of Smyl, Williams, Delorme, Crawford, etc this team is a disgrace.

Sedin's hit was clean an Keith's wasn't. It's a pretty easy call.

Shanny didn't get it wrong on this one. If you end a guys career with a clean shot then fine, but if you go out of your way to injure someone then you deserve to have the book thrown at you.

You guys freak out about suspensions like this but it falls on deaf ears because you freak out at every suspension whether it's warranted or not.

You have to choose your battles and this to me is a no brainer. You go after a guys head and you may affect his future life. If you wanna get back at a guy either drop the gloves and if the guy turtles you've proved your point for the whole world to see or hell, give him a two hander in the legs, but when you deliberately go after a guys head then you don't have a leg to stand on.

I don't disagree with the suspension. And I do believe its a dirty hit. Unlike some in this thread, I freely admit that when certain people get hurt I am less than sympathetic. Sedin could be gone for life and I would not shed a tear. If that makes me classless, so be it. At least I'm honest enough to admit it.

i hope this doesn't deeter the sedins away from hitting more often, at their size hitting would probably free up even more space. I dont like the gentle giant approach . and more often than not.. when they poke or stick check they end up getting called 75% of the time..

2ndly..i agree keith should of jumped him. just like mike duco got jumped in the pre-season. i havent seen an instagor fine in a long time. i would rather be known for my goonery rather than my cheap shotism. brad marchand got away with punching a sedin around. thought players would of learnt from that.

Safe to say we would like to have it taken care of (policing) a different way, but expected the suspension. 5 games, a bit stiff for a non-offender, but again, Duncan deserves something. Should add some more gas to the Nuck/ Hawk fire....

agreed that there has been a missing element to some games between the hawks and nucks in the past. yes this does add excitement for future games. im hoping for rangers / devils type rivalry or maybe close to a bruins / nucks .. love the bad blood that develops between teams.
