Ducks Sign Parros to Three-Year Contract Extension
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed right wing George Parros to a three-year contract extension. The new contract will keep Parros with Anaheim through the end of the 2011-12 season.
“We are pleased to announce that George has signed for three more seasons,” said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “His character and toughness on the ice along with his commitment to our community have been valuable assets for the organization.” In 45 games with the Ducks this year, Parros, 29 (12/29/79), has earned 3-5=8 points with 74 penalty minutes (PIM). He has already established career highs in goals, assists and points, besting his previous marks just three months into the 2008-09 campaign. His plus-9 rating on the season ranks third on the club as he’s registered a plus-or-even rating in 42 of his 45 appearances. The Randolph, New Jersey native appeared in his 200th NHL game on Jan. 16 at Pittsburgh. A member of the Ducks 2007 Stanley Cup championship squad, the 6-5, 231-pound Parros has appeared in six career postseason contests. In 146 career regular season games with Anaheim, he has earned 5-9=14 points with 359 PIM. Parros was acquired from Colorado with future considerations in exchange for a second-round draft pick in the 2007 Entry Draft on Nov. 13, 2007. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the eighth round (222nd overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. In 203 career NHL games, Parros has collected 7-12=19 points with 497 PIM and a plus-10 rating. |

Even without Burke, the brass still recognize the use and need for an enforcer! Congrats to Parros!

Good for Parros. 3 years is a really long contract when it comes to enforcers. He's done a good job for the Ducks and has also worked on improving the rest of his game quite a bit. Nice to see him rewarded for his effort.

Good signing.
I'm not a huge fan of his fighting style but I can live with him being the Ducks enforcer for the next 3 1/2 years because he can hang in with any tough guy in the league. He has improved a lot as a hockey player and is a good teammate and great in the community. Go stache' |
