Ducks Sign Hiller and Ebbett to Two-Year Extensions

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed goaltender Jonas Hiller and center Andrew Ebbett to a two-year contract extensions through the 2009-10 NHL season.

Hiller, 26 (2/12/82), made his NHL debut with the Ducks in 2007-08, posting a 10-7-1 record with a 2.06 goals-against average (GAA) and .927 save percentage (SV%) in 23 games. He owned the second-best GAA (1.55; 11GA/426 MIN) and SV% (.952, 217-of-228 shots) in the NHL after March 1 while compiling an 8-4-0 record over his final 12 starts of the regular season.

A native of Felben Wellhausen, Switzerland, Hiller earned a 4-1 win over Los Angeles in his NHL debut on Sept. 30 in London, England. With his appearance, Hiller became just the fourth Swiss goaltender to play in an NHL game, joining David Aebischer (COL), Martin Gerber (ANA) and Pauli Jaks (LA). Following the 2008 NHL Playoffs, Hiller joined Switzerland for the 2008 IIHF World Championship in Halifax and Quebec City. He appeared in three games, going 1-2-0 with a 2.79 GAA and .915 SV%. Hiller’s team was eventually eliminated by Russia, who went on to win the gold medal.

Originally signed by Anaheim as a free agent on May 25, 2007, the 6-2, 196-pound goaltender spent the 2006-07 season with Davos of the Swiss National League. In 44 appearances with Davos, Hiller posted a 28-16-0 record with a 2.60 GAA. In addition, he helped Davos to both Swiss National League and Spengler Cup championships while also being voted Best Goalie in the Swiss League. In 141 career Swiss National League appearances, Hiller owned an 80-52-10 record with 16 shutouts and a 2.53 GAA.

Ebbett, 25 (1/2/83), played in 74 games last season with Portland, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Ebbett scored 18-54=72 points with 66 penalty minutes (PIM), leading the Pirates in scoring and assists. He ranked sixth among AHL leaders in assists and tied for 11th in points during the regular season. In the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs, Ebbett helped the Pirates advance to the Eastern Conference Final, scoring 6-11=17 points with a +4 rating and four PIM in 16 postseason games.

Signed as a free agent on May 16, 2007, Ebbett also appeared in three regular season games with the Ducks in 2007-08, going scoreless with a +3 rating and two PIM. He made his NHL debut on Feb. 22, 2008 vs. St. Louis, posting a +1 rating in 11:57 time on ice (TOI).

A native of Vernon, British Columbia, Ebbett made his professional debut in 2006-07 with Binghamton, the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators. He scored 26-39=65 points with 44 PIM in 71 games, leading the AHL Senators in assists and ranking second in points.

I don't know of any link, that's from my inbox.

I'm sure the Ducks will have it up on the official site soon.

From the Ducks site:

http://ducks.nhl.com/team/app/?servi...ticleid=365727

and:

Usually, when David or Jamie posts one of these threads about signings, you can simply go onto the team website (for the NHL, it's http://teamname.nhl.com) and there's usually a link right there.
