Ducks Ship Maxim Lapierre and MacGregor Sharp to Vancouver

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired center Joel Perrault and a third-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from Vancouver in exchange for centers Maxim Lapierre and MacGregor Sharp.

Perrault, 27 (4/6/83), has played for Phoenix (2005-10), St. Louis (2006-07) and Vancouver (2010-11). In 96 career NHL games, Perrault has earned 12-14=26 points with 68 PIM. His best season came with Phoenix in 2007-08 when he set career highs in goals, assists and points with 7-10=17 points in 49 games.

Originally selected by Anaheim in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Perrault appeared in seven games with Vancouver this season, going scoreless. Perrault has spent the majority of the season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with Manitoba, scoring 3-15=18 points with a +3 rating and 33 penalty minutes (PIM) in 26 games. He collected a season-high 1-2=3 points on Dec. 17 vs. Houston and posted a season-best four-game scoring streak from Dec. 28-Jan. 3 (0-4=4).

Lapierre, 25 (3/29/85), appeared in 21 games for the Ducks this season, recording 0-3=3 points with nine PIM. Acquired from Montreal in exchange for Brett Festerling and a fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft on Dec. 31, 2010, Lapierre scored in 5-6=11 points with 72 PIM in 59 games overall with the Ducks and Canadiens in 2010-11. Selected by Montreal in the second round (61st overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Lapierre has appeared in 314 career NHL contests, scoring 40-43=83 points with 293 PIM.

Sharp, 25 (10/1/85), scored 6-7=13 points with 26 PIM in 50 games this season with the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the AHL. Sharp made his NHL debut with Anaheim in 2009-10, going scoreless in eight games. He has appeared in 96 career AHL games with Syracuse (2010-11), San Antonio (2009-10) and Iowa (2008-09), registering 16-17=33 points with 46 PIM. Sharp signed as a free agent with Anaheim on Mar. 31, 2009.

Wow I just started to hate him with the Ducks, now I get to hate him with the Nucks.

Fireball_IV 02-28-2011 03:18 PM

All day people have been talking about the Nucks toughening up; I really hope this isn't their answer?

stevecanuck16 02-28-2011 03:18 PM

It actually fills a need, as weird as that sounds. Both Kesler and Burrows have really scaled back the yapping and agitating this year, instead focusing on their play. Lapierre takes over that role while providing good 4th line minutes. Hoping this is true, he went deep with Montreal last year and played a big role.

Thrillhouse 02-28-2011 03:22 PM

Urgh, this is just great

Vancouver loves the agitators, fits in fine.

Maxim to Vancouver for 3rd round pick and joel perrault

per Bob McKenzie

I like how TSN thinks Lapierre will not be a sh*thead because Vancouver will tell him not to.

Canes13 02-28-2011 03:28 PM

Lapierre for a 3rd rounder and an AHL vet, not a bad return for a guy that Anaheim gave up a 5th round pick to acquire.

JKidd 02-28-2011 03:29 PM

Haha, even more of a reason to hate this cheap, gutless piece of ****.

How fitting....

lakingsfan19 02-28-2011 04:20 PM

Did they really say that? Jesus....

Nothing like having the player I hate the most utside of the NW division now suiting up for my team :bored:

I wanted the Canucks to get tougher and meaner, not more aggrevating and stupid.

I'm liking the depth, but when it comes down to it the Canucks are no tougher than they were 24 hours ago....

The leagues worst diving team gets worse...

Isles4life 02-28-2011 09:38 PM

Man I hate this bastard. I don't know if I can stomach the thought of him and Burrows (even the scaled back version) flopping around the ice together.
