Ducks Re-Sign Brad May
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed left wing Brad May to a two-year contract.
May, 35 (11/29/71), played in 24 games during the 2006-07 regular season between Anaheim and Colorado, scoring 0-4=4 points with 21 penalty minutes (PIM). In 14 regular season games with Anaheim, the Toronto, Ontario native recorded 0-1=1 point with 13 PIM after being acquired from Colorado on Feb. 27 in exchange for Michael Wall. In 18 playoff games with the Ducks, May scored 0-1=1 point with 28 PIM. May also played in 10 games with Colorado last season, scoring 0-3=3 points. The 6-1, 220-pound forward missed the first 53 games of the season with a shoulder injury, returning to action Feb. 8 vs. Atlanta. May has appeared in 882 career NHL games, scoring 123-153=276 points with 2,040 penalty minutes (PIM). He has also played in 82 career playoff games, scoring 4-9=13 points with 108 PIM. May was drafted by Buffalo in the first round (14th overall) of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. He played with Buffalo from 1991-1998 before being traded to Vancouver on Feb. 4, 1998 with Buffalo's third-round draft pick in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Geoff Sanderson. May had two stints with the Canucks (1998-2000 & 2002-2004) and played three seasons in Phoenix from 2000 to 2002. May signed with Colorado as a free agent on Aug. 5, 2005. First thing I thought too - it will be nice to have another chance to see May play for one more year. Hopefully he can stay healthy....

If he can stay healthy, May will be a solid 4th liner. He played in all the SC finals games-a washed up player would be a spectator in the pressbox during that time in the season. He may have the heart, but his fighting skills will never be what they used to be. He's good for some MW bouts-even tackle some HWs. If the stach is dressed, don't expect May to take on the Parkers and Boogaards. That's a little overkill to expect May to droppem with the likes of Boogaard. May brings alot off the ice also.
