Ducks' Pronger Suspended One Game

TORONTO - The National Hockey League announced today that Anaheim Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger has been suspended for one game for a blow to the head of Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom in Western Conference Final Game #3 in Anaheim, May 15.

The incident occurred at 11:40 of the second period.

Pronger will miss Game 4 of the Western Conference Final, Thursday at Anaheim. He will be eligible to return for Game 5, Sunday at Detroit.

Sportsnet is reporting that in the replay, Pronger hit Holmstrom's head with his elbow.

I'm answering here as the other thread got locked.

First of Holmstrom does not wear a visor if I'm correct, and second I guess just about every player, no matter where he comes from, would not have done anything after getting hit from behind and flying head first into the boards with 5 mins left on the clock. To call Holstrom a puss bag euro is just ridicoulus.

Well, total brain cramp by Pronger to put himself in a position to even get kicked out of a game, let alone suspended. They definitely penalized the wrong guy on the play. Here's hoping the Ducks can rally without Pronger on the blueline and tie up this series.

He wasn't wearing a visor until the San Jose rounds-after a eye injury. He's sporting one now.

Meh. The hit deserves a game but again, consistency is a huge problem. It's like flipping a coin.
