Ducks Deal Steven Kampfer to Boston

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired a fourth-round selection in either the 2010 or 2011 NHL Entry Draft from the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenseman Steven Kampfer.

Kampfer, 21 (9/24/88), appeared in 37 regular season contests for the University of Michigan in his senior season this year, leading all team defensemen in scoring and assists with 2-15=17 points. A native of Ann Arbor, MI, Kampfer set a collegiate single-game career high with 1-2=3 points on Jan. 8 at Western Michigan. Selected by Anaheim in the fourth round (93rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Kampfer was named to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) All-Tournament team in 2008-09, helping the Wolverines reach the CCHA Finals. He won the CCHA title during his sophomore season, putting up career numbers with 2-15=17 points and a +27 rating in 42 contests. In 137 career games with Michigan, Kampfer scored 6-45=51 points with 130 PIM and a +53 rating.

Trades like these happen every deadline, I don't think it has anything to do with how slow the deadline may or may not be.
