Ducks Acquire Nate Guenin From Columbus
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired defenseman Nate Guenin from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for center Trevor Smith.
Guenin, 28 (12/10/82), appeared in three games for Columbus this season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes (PIM) while averaging 14:47 time-on-ice (TOI). The 6-2, 210-pound defenseman was recalled from Springfield of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Oct. 16 and reassigned back to the AHL on Oct. 26. He has also appeared in 30 AHL games in 2010-11, collecting 0-5=5 points with 21 PIM with Springfield. Originally selected by the New York Rangers in the third round (127th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Guenin has appeared in 17 career NHL games with Philadelphia (2006-09), Pittsburgh (2009-10) and Columbus (2010-11), scoring 0-2=2 points with eight PIM. He made his NHL debut with Philadelphia on Jan. 18, 2007 vs. the New York Islanders and collected his first two career NHL points with a pair of assists on Mar. 31, 2007 vs. the New York Rangers. Smith, 25 (2/8/85), appeared in 35 games with Syracuse (AHL) this season, scoring 12-15=27 points with 16 PIM. Smith led the Crunch in scoring, goals and assists and ranked tied for fourth in appearances. The 6-1, 194-pound center finished with 5-2=7 points in his final five games with the Crunch. Originally signed by the New York Islanders as a free agent on Apr. 7, 2007, Smith made his NHL debut in a 4-2 win on Dec. 31, 2008 vs. Florida, going scoreless in 10:55 TOI. He appeared in seven games for the Islanders in 2008-09, earning his first career NHL goal against Mikka Kiprusoff in a 5-2 loss on Jan. 8, 2009 at Calgary. |

as a Crunch fan is is rapidly losing his interest in the team, this makes no sense.. Mirasty puts fannies in the seats and gets sent to Elmira; Festerling is the leading scoring defenseman and gets traded; Smith is the leading scoring forward and gets traded. For a team that is a bunch of underachieving and overpaid kids who DO NOT play 60 minutes of hockey, or even 30 minutes with any consistency, this is another stupid move. A three game winning streak does not a playoff team make. If the Ducks are trying to make the team so bad that attendance falls to a point that the current ownership has to sell, they are doing a fine job. That way, the Ducks can buy the team and move them closer, like say Bakersfield. The silience from the Crunch office is even more bothersome. This is just going to piss off even more season ticket holders, making the game on the 15th one to attend just to see the fan reaction to the latest in a growing list of "maybe we should have thought twice about the Ducks" moments. Prove me wrong Crunch, but it is really starting to smell like bull droppings at the Oncenter.

Sorry Snot, but cant get past you and the rest of you puck bunnies. As for the info, many of the Crunch season ticket holders are getting a bit ticked at the current state of the team, as the few playres putting forth effort and playing thier roles are getting traded or reassigned and the "players" remaining have yet to put together any regular consistency.

Wow, this should shake things up for both teams.
By the way Crunch fans, Anaheim is regarded as about the 2nd worst team to be affiliated with in the AHL. The Flames being #1. They simply don't care about winning at that level. Not surprised things are going south much like they did in Rochester when the Panthers moved in (but at least the Panthers have SOME prospects). |
