Ducks Acquire Goaltender Curtis McElhinney; Toskala to Calgary
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired goaltender Curtis McElhinney from the Calgary Flames in exchange for goaltender Vesa Toskala.

In the month of November, McElhinney went 2-0-0 with a 2.47 GAA and .919 SV% in three games, earning one win in overtime and another in a shootout. On Nov. 4 at Dallas, McElhinney established career highs in saves (38) and shots against (40) en route to his first career road win, a 3-2 decision over the Stars. Originally selected by Calgary in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, McElhinney has appeared in three NHL seasons with the Flames. Toskala, 32 (5/20/77), did not appear in a game for Anaheim following his acquisition from Toronto with Jason Blake in exchange for J.S. Giguere on Jan. 31, 2010. Toskala posted a 7-12-2 record with one shutout, a 3.66 GAA and .874 SV% in 26 appearances with the Leafs this season. The 5-10, 198-pound goaltender also earned his 13th career shutout on Jan. 14 vs. Philadelphia, stopping all 38 shots faced for a 4-0 victory. A native of Tampere, Finland, Toskala was originally selected by San Jose in the fourth round (90th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Toskala has appeared in 260 career games with Toronto and San Jose, going 127-82-25 with 13 shutouts, a 2.77 GAA and .902 SV%. Have fun with that. You better hope and pray Kipper stays healthy.

I think Sutter has actually lost it.
EDIT: Sweet jesus they're doing it to give Kipper some rest. They've got half the leafs dressing room in there. And that is not a good thing.

Poor Calgary (Toronto West). Looks like their management has lost it.

And Keenan's sitting there at TSN's desk, probably trying to hold back a big smile.

I'm not so sure about that - which is why I'm wondering if the Flames are done here in regards to their goaltending situation.
Regardless - with Toskala a pending UFA this summer, and McElhinney gone, this will open up the doors for maybe Leland Irving or Matt Keetley for next season maybe?
