Ducks Acquire Bruno St. Jacques from Carolina in Exchange for Craig Adams

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired defenseman Bruno St. Jacques from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for right wing Craig Adams.

St. Jacques, 25 (8/22/80), played 68 games for the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, scoring 2-12=14 points with 60 penalty minutes. In addition, he played in 11 playoff games, scoring 1-4=5 points with four PIM.

The 6-2, 204-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, has played 66 career NHL games with Carolina and Philadelphia over three seasons, scoring 2-7=9 points with 47 PIM. He made his NHL debut with Philadelphia in 2001-02, going scoreless in seven games with two penalty minutes.

St. Jacques split the 2002-03 season between Philadelphia and Carolina. With Philadelphia in six games, he was scoreless with two penalty minutes. On Feb. 7, 2003 he was traded to Carolina along with Pavel Brendl for Sami Kapanen and Ryan Bast. In 18 games with Carolina after the trade, St. Jacques recorded 2-5=7 points with 12 PIM.

St. Jacques was selected by Philadelphia in the ninth round (253rd overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He will report directly to Portland (AHL), Anaheim’s primary development affiliate.

guess there was a little lee way when they bring in 2 (maybe) 3 new d-men. Commodore and Hutchinson (who i think might be a diamond in the ruff), something had to give. And to think Glen Welsey still has his spot

Weird....so essentially the Ducks got St. Jaques for nothing because Craig Adams was a free agent pickup and then Carolina gave up St. Jaques to get him back.
