Ducks Accept Arbitration Award for Vishnevski

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club accepted the arbitration award for defenseman Vitaly Vishnevski (one-year contract).

Vishnevski, 26 (3/18/80), appeared in all 82 regular season games for Anaheim, earning 1-7=8 points with a career-best +8 mark. Vishnevski also led the Ducks and finished seventh overall in the NHL with 196 hits. The Kharkov, Russia, native added 0-4=4 points in 16 Stanley Cup playoff games with a +2 rating.

Vishnevski was selected to be a member of the 2006 Russian Olympic team, earning 0-1=1 point in eight tournament games. Since appearing as a 19-year-old NHL rookie, Vishnevski has climbed to sixth on Anaheim’s all-time games played list with 416 contests. He has earned 11-37=48 points in his NHL career.

A 6-2, 203-pound defenseman, Vishnevski was selected in the first round (5th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Burke doesn't want a 1.55 million third pairing d-man.

He signed him to trade him.

He might not given how much his first pair costs, but in the market this summer that's not that much for a #5 d-man.

lol, i'm sure Kevin Lowe isn't too dissapointed in what he got for Pronger.

Vishnevski is a decent signing, and at the price tag he got, sure it's overpaid, but if you look at what Daniel Briere and Scott Gomez got, i wouldn't be too upset with only having to dish out a bit more then one and a half mill.
