More than anything I'd say this is due to the Olympic break. But if the injured players return after olympics, Douggy doesn't have a great shot at sticking around.

He's shouldn't be THE man on a team, but neither should guys like Asham and Jansen. He is a good gritty player who can more than handle himself. Look at the posted clips ...not to mention his dropping of huggy bear.

You are absolutley right, they really do need a fighter who will watch out for his guys and Ovechkin. With him in the line-up will make the caps more fun to watch and less guys takin run at so many of the caps players, Doull will be there to take care of it.

I already said that he is fun to watch but he is not an enforcer caliber fighter. You either have to bring something else along with fighting or you just have to be a badass fighter. Doull is neither. Energy doesnt make a career last. Remember Stock. He was fun too but he got beat on.

Yes, I remember P.J. Stock. And as I recall his career ended after he was struck in the eye with an errant stick. Energy was making his career and it was cut short by an accident. Now since that was the base of your argument, why don't you go ahead and tell me how the two are related?

Ok, let me say this again because I don't think it has sunk in for most of you people.

Doug Doull was called up because the Caps lineup was riddled with injuries. Doull is by no means a player such as Kane, Boogaard, Parros, Janssen, McGrattan, or Gordon, in that he has NO real offensive or defensive upside in his game. The guy only hits, fights, and...well....fights. He has no real secured spot on the lineup because of this.

I realize why he was sent back down. But because of the Olympic break, the players on caps roster who were injured will have time to heal. Ultimately, Doug Doull will be with Hershey for the rest of the year, of course, unless a strain of the bubonic plauge springs up in the Capitals locker room...

I hate to say it, but the chances are slim. Hopefully i'm wrong.

Broken Orbital

PJ Stock was in and out of the minors before he got hit with a stick in the eye. He did ok with the Bruins but everybody knew that he wasnt going to be an nhl enforcer.

Doull can be a better player, he just needs to be a better player, work on it. All the fighters have not to great of skills. Janssen has 0 goals and 0 assists but he is still in the line-up ither than Moginly. I want Doull to play just as much as he did with the bruins.

Mogilny's a lot more expensive than Janssen.

I hope Doull gets called back after the break but like many have said if the Caps heal up Doull will not be back .... sad to say.

I understand your logic and don't necessarily agree that he won't be back up. But, who on the caps roster would he have been replacing? They don't have a player that plays his style of hockey. The Caps have been calling up most of the players from Hershey at some point. I think they're doing it to get a look at each player in the NHL, give them a small reward for their work in Hershey (wouldn't hold true for Doull since he is new on the team) and see if any of the Hershey place can change the chemistry of the team. I think we'll see Doull back up at some point, but not right after the olympic break is over.

These guys were sent down for playing time over the break plus it save the Caps salary money when they're in the AHL.
