Devils Sign Rob Davison

As per Andy Strickland.

Quote:
D-man Rob Davison will sign a 2 yr contract w/ the Devils. He gets a two way in yr. 1 and a one way NHL deal in yr. 2 with New Jersey.

Hopefully this is the year he sticks and gets a good 70+ games in. I never understood why the Isles let him go last year, it was nice to have another willing guy in the Atlantic.

He's also the exact kind of guy the Rags have needed since Strudwick left, but Slats is too busy signing Enver f*cking Lisin.

Another willing fighter makes me happy! As long as he isn't taking a roster spot away from Corrente, then I like this signing!

Good to see Davi catch on somewhere. Can never knock the guys heart or effort. Wish he was still in SJ.

Great guy, I enjoyed having him in Vancouver for a season. Hope he gets more ice-time this go around.

I like Davison, good signing by the Devils to add a little more toughness. I'm not sure how much we'll see of him this year though with it being a 2-way contract. Hopefully he sticks around for a good chunk of the season.

Even though Davison's a defenseman, does anyone think this might have any effect on Leblond's chances to make the team?

Exactly what I was thinking. Have never replaced Buekeboom. Never gave Strudwick a chance.

Corrente will likely be in Lowell anyway, he's got a few guys he needs to beat out, but it's not impossible.

No chance. The Devils won't dress an enforcer on defense, and aside from using Sheldon Brookbank there at times I don't think this will hurt Leblond, especially since it's a two way deal. Basically I think this is a move to tell Jay Leach he'd better have a phenomenal camp or Davison is going to be the 7th guy. I honestly don't remember much about how Davison played on defense, but I think against a team like the Flyers I'd rather have him than Andy Greene.

Good luck to Rob, who had a real tough time finding ice time in Vancouver this past season. A good depth guy who's always willing to go, I always thought he deserved more opportunity with the Canucks, but I don't think we saw him at all after the All Star break. Decent depth signing for the Devils - hope he sticks!

I think we all can stop dreaming of the Wings signing an enforcer.

Gillis should have resigned the guy. He was one of his first signings as the new GM & he rarely played because of Vigneault. With the often injured Salo & Mitchell, Davison was a good fill in. I'd take him over another p*ssified Euro who brings nothing to the game, like Vaanenen. Thank God he won't be back either.

Good, now Carcillo will have some payback for the bitch body slam
that Rob gave him last year. Ya know this is gonna happen.
We play them enough that old Rob should be in the lineup.

Awesome signing by New Jersey. Davison adds some more toughness to their team, and from what I hear he's a great guy in the lockerroom and is an underrated d-man as well. Nice to see him get signed by a good team.

Also, while everyone is too busy sucking on the Flyers' balls, the Devils are quietly putting together a nice tough team to counter Philadelphia:

Leblond, Clarkson, Davison, Brookbank, Salvador, etc.

They are looking pretty tough. I know Brookbank and Davison might not be in NJ the whole year, but still. With those two in the lineup they could beat Philadelphia in a line brawl if it ever happened.
