Every other team around the NHL is probably saying, "damn".
Rolston is the type of guy that every team wants. Good two-way center that is good offensively and can score 20-goals and 50-60 points, and he can also play good defense... not to mention the tremendous leadership that he provides in the lockerroom. Good signing for New Jersey. Rolston is a very good player.

Ah, the exultations of the recently damned, is there any sweeter sound?
I guess the Wings will have to wait a year to pick up another Michigan native, former Devil, Brian R. to come and win again. Last edited by Viper207; 07-01-2008 at 06:23 PM. |

Big time signing for the Devils to help boost their offense. Rolston has finally come full circle. Good signing, but 4 years at 5 mill per would have me a little concerned about the latter half of his contract. He is getting on in years, his production could take a big dip down the road, in which case the Devils will be stuck with a very good but overpaid player.

He should be a good fit in New Jersey. One thing is bothering me, one of the major reasons he tested the market was so he could a place that him and his family could retire, so New Jersey of all places a little surprising to me.

****!
I wanted him wearing the Pens black and gold. But good signing by the Devils, even though 4 years is a tad too long at his age. They needed someone - ANYONE - who could score.

I love this signing. Yes his production could dip later on, but in another 2 or 3 years as he hits his late 30's a 5mil cap hit won't seem too bad for a potential team seeking a playoff rental. He's a veteran guy, and he's coming off 3 seasons in a row of 30 goals, something the Devils could really use.
