Devils' Eric Boulton Fined for Slash
NEW YORK -- New Jersey Devils forward Eric Boulton has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for slashing New York Rangers forward Mike Rupp in NHL Game No. 737 in New Jersey on Tuesday, Jan. 31, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 2:34 of the second period. No penalty was assessed on the play. The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. |

They showed it on MSG 2 but it didn't seem like much of a slash, just a little chop. Surprised they fined him for it.

...The NHL needs a new Director of Player Safety....someone to CORRECTLY assess what hockey actions truly warrant a FINE or SUSPENSION.
B. Shanahan's decisions and judgements more often than not seem mis-guided and off-base. If a play is indeed DELIBERATELY wrong or MALICIOUS I'm all for hard, punitive measures --- but, NOT EVERY violation that occurs on the ice needs the additional 'BS' that he thinks is NECESSARY and/or APPROPRIATE. |
