Pardon me if I don't invest in the opinion that this is a dumb trade - because I'm having a deja vu of when the Devils traded Sheldon Souray(and players and picks) to the Habs for Vladimir Malakhov.

I can see Zid working out for you and the Devils. He'll be back with his buddies Patrick Elias and Petr Sykora, and for you guys - hopefully that means he'll be less of a piece of ****.

No, I'm not comparing those players at all. You get zero points in the deductive reasoning department.

I'm saying Lou knows what the team needs more than you do. To that, he OBVIOUSLY knows what thew team doesn't need, which is mid level players like the ones we just traded to Minnesota. We've got a dozen players of average skill that this team has been making look good. Minnesota bit and we have what we need: a top 2 defenseman.

And I certainly don't begrudge Zidlicky sounding off about the coach in Minnesota, one look at the date and where the Wild is in the standings and you've gotta really be "drinking some Kool Aid" to not see his point.

you just lost all creditability with that comment...he's barely a 2nd pairing guy let alone a top pairing guy. he doesn't play defense, nor play a team game.

Zidlicky hasn't been a top 2 defenseman since he left Nashville. If that's what you think you're getting, you're going to be sorely disappointed. I don't need to be inside Lou's head or an apologetic Devils fan to see that he made a massive overpayment for a #4 defenseman at best, no matter how "mid level" those players were that went back to Minnesota. I can't believe that you are actually trying to spin this any other way.

Zidlicky will not be that so-called "#2 defenseman" on Jersey. Not with Volchenkov, Larsson, Salvador, and Greene there. And one Tallinder gets back. NJ got fleeced. And Palmieri never panned out because he was mostly playing with Boulton and/or Janssen on the 4th line. That's a 4 minute a night line.
