Devils Acquire Ben Walter From Islanders
The New Jersey Devils acquired center Ben Walter, and future considerations, from the New York Islanders in exchange for the rights to center Tony Romano. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.
Walter, 25, had 20 goals and 30 assists for 50 points and 10 penalty minutes in 65 games with Bridgeport (AHL) last season, and also saw four games of NHL action with the Islanders. The 6-1, 195-lb. forward was selected with Boston’s fifth pick, 160th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, and has played in 22 NHL games with the Islanders and Bruins. Romano, New Jersey’s seventh choice, 178th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, spent last season with Peterborough (OHL).
