OK. Both already mentioned it was UNINTENTIONAL, and are actually buddies off the ice. But good point. And...

Not intentional, just misaligned his hit. 2 games is about right.

Oilers lose Jones

Quote:
Newly acquired winger Ryan Jones is likely done for the season after the Derek Boogaard cheap shot in the first period of Jonesís first home game with the Oilers.

He has a second-degree tear in the MCL of his right knee and will miss about four weeks. With only five weeks left in the season, it doesnít look good for a return.

If this was unintentional, I'd like to see some examples of knee-on-knee hits that were intentional.

It looked to me like he was trying to correct his missed hit. If it was intentional or not is beyond me, but it was blatent to say the least.

Am a huge Boogs fan, but that knee was careless at best, intentional at worst.

I think he intended to stick the leg out to create an obstacle at a minimum, or to clip RJ. Maybe he wasn't intending to tear the knee up and injury RJ, but there was intent for contact of some sort.

The 2 games is deserved.

.....

His type of player has no more place in this league, 2 goals 12 assists in almost 250 NHL games sets pretty sad for a player. There are still some fighters in the league that know how to play hockey but I would personally deny this dude a contract if I were GM of this team or any team!!

I was thinking the exact same thing. I doubt he meant to seriously hurt him, but sticking his knee out was totally intentional. I don't buy it as some kind of reflex action.

Great first post!

Now try taking your head out of your a$$ and actually WATCH the replay.

Apparently he did hit him. He has a tear in his MCL...It didn't just "pop" on its own now, did it?

Boogard is vicious. 2 games is not enough what a joke. He intentionally stuck his leg out and aimed for the knee.
