I don't see that as intentional, he's just a klutz and you have to pay for knee hits.

As stated before, Boogaard missed a hit and kneed a player on accident: two games; Richards could have ended Booth's career with a questionable hit: nothing, because he is a "skill" player.

It is what it is, but I still think it's BS, and the league really needs to be more consitant, and that goes for levying calls against all "goons".
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Ovechkin has had repeated issues with kneeing as well, but since he is one of the main attractions to the game, he won't see a suspension.

Knew this was coming.

I'm glad they're actually picking an "offense" to suspend him for, this time.

What did Boogaard get suspended for for his first offense for 5 games?

It was a hit he put on Prust last year. And if I remember correctly, the punishment didn't seem to fit the crime; as it certainly was a crushing hit, but his size again worked against him in that it did not seem like an intential elbow, rather, he is just too damn big and happened to catch Prust high.

YouTube- Derek Boogaard crushes Brandon Prust -...

This was one of those "what the hell did I just do?" plays by Boogaard. There's no way he got on the ice planning to deliver a knee-on-knee-hit like that. He had a brainfart whilst thinking that he needed to obstruct Jones in some way, and the knee squirted out there. Watch his body language, Boogaard is really disappointed about how it went down. 2 games is fine, as would have been 4.

These things do happen from time to time, and it's good to hear Jones saying much of the same thing

I don't think Boogaard was intentionally trying to go knee-on-knee with Jones, but he was way off in lining him up for a hit, and he stuck his leg pretty far out there which led to the collision. Dangerous, reckless hit, even if not completely intentional, so it deserves this suspension.

The guy is huge and has a hard time controlling himself, kinda like a lab puppy. Was it intentional...I don't believe so. I do believe he has to be held responsible and thus suspended for ONE game and fined. But to consider him a repeat offender and pretty much put him on probation for life, Com'on. This is ridiculous. He should take a peewee hitting session, then allowed to play again(j/k). None intentional and I believe he felt bad about it. Wonder who's gonna go after him in the next meeting...wheather it be this season or next.

Sometimes these stories are depressing because they specify how much a guy like Derek Boogaard makes per game. He makes over $10,500 PER GAME to play 4 minutes each night he plays (that's based on playing the entire 84 game season .. Boogaard plays half so he's making more like $20K per game if he were not injured all the time) and he has crafted a TOTAL of 2 goals and 12 assists in 244 NHL games. It wouldn't be bad if he actually FOUGHT ... but he has only 27 total fights the last three years. What exactly does he bring to the team but stupid penalties? I say bring up Matt Kassian for half the money and send Boogie on his way. Bob Probert scored 30 one year and fought twice as much as this mook. This guy should be embarrassed looking at his bank balance every two weeks cuz he's dialing it in. No different than the rest of his teammates except Koivu, Lantredresse, Brunette, Clutterbuck and Nolan.

It certainly, wasn't intentional. Looked like he was almost trying to deliver a hip-check. Not even sure it warrants a suspension, but I realize the league figures it has to do something,....anything more than 2 games would be wrong, though.

If he knows he has problems controling himself and is likely to give away a bad penalty then he should not do it
