Obviously I'm not happy to see an enforcer out for 5 games, but it shows a little consistency by the league for a change.
Consistently inconsistent would be more accurate. Yes, it was cheap, and yes, it was stupid, but five games for what happened is easily 2 too many, especially for a first suspension, and especially after Souray got "a talking-to" for using his wrist guard on Weller's face and Janssen, a repeat offender, got a fine for headhunting Michalek. "Colie" is an absolute joke.

Why would those games have been boring? Because none are Eastern teams? Absurd. I'm glad he'll miss the 3/5 game with us as he always kicks Jody's butt. But then again, he has the chance to do so on 3/10 when he's pissed off! I'm not looking forward to that game.

Prust was chirping Clutterbuck for an entire shift about 2 minutes before the elbow. Clutterbuck turned him down, just like Prust would have done to Boogaard. Prust looked like Laraque when he chased Lucic, just staying in his ear for a whole shift.

I thought he would get 2, but I don't think 5 is totally inappropriate. If he were anybody else, he might not be scrutinized as much (if he were anybody else, somebody would have squared off after the shot instead of resorting to stickwork). Stupid move by the big man. Bad, bad, bad time to be out of the lineup. I don't mind him sending a message to Prust, but that was bad.

The thing that I don't get is guys like Regehr calling out the coach on this. "What was Boogaard even on the ice for?" Because Prust was trying to send a message of his own to Clutterbuck you dumb whiner. Prust is arguably just as useless as Boogaard, what's the difference?

It's probably too much to hope that the Wild will call Kassian up from the Aeros.

Nah, I forgot which team we're talking about (Wild) and which era of hockey (Buttman).

It is no shock to me that Prust was in Clutterbuck's face. Their dislike for each other dates back to Junior hockey.

Who is going to miss Booger's 5 minutes of ice time and his 1 fight every month except his boy friends on these boards?

Boogaard is a total waste of roster space, IMHO. If I were building a team and needed an enforcer and had my choice, he'd probably be at the bottom of the list along with Laraque. They might be 2 of the worst enforcers in the league. At least Boogy scares people more than Laraque.

Prust is like 1/4 the size of Booger so no matter what the homers say, it was an unnecessary and disrespectful act on Booger's part and he got what he deserved. Those calling for lighter suspensions have to take into account the leagues so called crackdown on headshots and this was an obvious elbow to the head. At the end of a 4-1 game makes it that much worse. This isn't the old days, as much as I hate saying that. Just when you think a game is going to explode in the 3rd period of a 5-0 game or whatever, it degenrates into hockey, both teams just going through the motions knwoing one team can't win so why bother trying or getting hurt? Blech. One recent exception was the Rangers/Avs game the other night but it's very rare now thanks to the Philly/Ottawa game a few years back where they had 6 or 7 fights in the last minute of the game. Buttman no likey that behavior!

Welcome to the new NHL.
