Derek Boogaard Suspended Five Games

I like Boogey but that elbow was stupid and uncalled for in a 4-1 game and with under 2 minutes remaining in the game. Where is Roy?

I thought so but just haven't seen a report or have I looked. Roy is a different fighter and seems to be reluctant to drop the mitts and it showed in his last fight against Hordichuk. He has not been very good this season and I said before the seaon started he would have his toughest seasonl in the nhl. Just because alot of the fighters in the west he had not faced before. Just think he diddn't even have to fight McGrattan or King..

In his last fight against Hordichuk it lasted about 5 seconds but his helmet came off and he wacked his head on the ice pretty hard. I had to watch it about five times but I was wondering why he went directly to the lockeroom. If i'm not mistaken he came out stating just a short while ago against players taking there helmets off and that he was concerened. Talk about karma....

Stupid elbow by Boogaard, and really bad timing. The NHL just reminded everyone about the headshot crackdown by suspending Witt, and then Boogaard throws an elbow on Prust. I did think the Witt's hit was maybe a little bit worse, but this was still a pretty blatant elbow to the head. Obviously I'm not happy to see an enforcer out for 5 games, but it shows a little consistency by the league for a change.

those games wouldve been boring anyway. he wouldve dropped the gloves maybe once against shelley. now the disappointment you wouldve experienced has gone away.

Pretty dumb move by Boogaard, and it's going to hurt the team for a few games here. I think 5 games is a couple too many, but it was just an unnecessary deal.

I don't remember, but was Prust the guy he was going at it a bit before a faceoff during the game? If it was his way to get back at him, it was just dumb.

He doesn't usually do stuff that is bad like that, and needs to not do it again if he wants to get playing time. Can't imagine Lemaire is too happy about it.

Don't care too much for the suspension either way, but because he did this against a Flame, and will be out against the Canucks, I'm happy.

Still, would have been better to have done this earlier in the game to send a message, not near the end when the outcome is no longer in doubt.

Boogaard's elbow is far worse than Witt's. Witt reacted to a player that was going to get around him by sticking out his elbow. It was not premeditated. Boogaard comes in with the intent to throw the elbow.

don't care who the hit is on, or how tall the player is, he definitely raised the elbow on the hit, and there is NO EXCUSE. If Witt gets less games i see Boogy getting the same amount, so pretty much not unexpected.

I always knew Prusty was a good little scrapper, but I didn't think he'd ever instill that much fear into guys like Janssen and Boogaard that they'd have to resort to cheap shots to put him out.
