Its really tough to say BSB. He is young, but, the health issues are mounting against him every month, it seems. He's really going up against injuries and issues that have claimed careers in every sport... concussions, back problems, and don't forget about his shoulder surgery this offseason as well.

It still might be a bit early, but, I'm with you in thinking Derek's best days are appearing in the rear view mirror and his full time duties are all but over.

Especially with a young, tough animal in Matt Kassian primed for his own break out season.

I hate to see Boogey go out like this, but he certainly has not been the same as of the last couple of seasons. He's lacked that fire or killer instinct, but that very well may be because he has been so banged up; as jkidd mentioned, he has had not only back, but shoulder and head issues as well.

Despite the criticisms, I don't think that there is a player in the league that has been as intimidating a force as Boogaard has been during his time. When he throws his body around he is like a freight train, and we all know how devastating his right hand can be (I'm looking at you, Fridge). I have thoroughly enjoyed having him in a Wild sweater, and would hate to have to go up against him.

On a brighter note, I am excited to see what Kassian can do in the bigs. He is a young kid with a lot of potential and likely eager to please the fans - ero more fights. Also, since he is smaller that Boogey other fighters might be more willing to engage. Should be fun.

Get well soon Boogey.

I hope he gets better soon. And I hope Kass gets a crack at the big league.

Concussions dont usually sideline a player for extended periods of time..............unless your name is Andreas Lilja.

I'm not sure if Kassians ready for the show? John Scott will probably handle the enforcing duties while Boogs is on the shelf.

I agree... I think Kassian could do with another year in the AHL before bringing him in.. But if he does get the chance I hope he does well..

Yeah, it is starting to look pretty bleak for Boogey. Teams may not want to pay a guy, no matter how good an enforcer he is, if they can't stay healthy. I hope his body has'nt deserted him.

From what it sounds like, that will be the case. However, I hope they have Kassian up and he can be the 2nd guy, or something. Get him some NHL experience.
