Derek Boogaard Sidelined With Concussion
Derek Boogaard will miss the remainder of the preseason with a concussion according to The Pioneer Press.
Quote:
Boogaard, 27, appeared in 51 games last season for the Minnesota Wild. He record 3 assists and 87 penalty minutes, with 45 of those PIMs being from fighting majors. Back injuries have plagued the 6' 7" forward in the past. Matt Kassian is still in Wild training camp and could fit into the enforcer role Boogaard normally fills. Kassian, 22, is still looking to play in his first NHL regular season game. |
Rough news...

Meet your new Minnesota Wild enforcer... Matt Kassian. :approve:
EDIT - this marks the 3rd time he's had concussion problems. Not a good road for any player to go down, but especially a guy that makes a living getting punched in the head. |
And Im not surprised.
|
i knew picking kassian would turn out good.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

I just grabbed tickets to the preseason game on the 29th and the boogie man gets a concussion...

if the dudes 6'7" thats a tall man,,, back problems..... yes definetly

Not encouraging news for Boogey. If a knob of a stick gives him concussion symptoms, then his days as an enforcer are in serious jepoardy.
|
Not good news at all. Concussion problems are worrisome for any player, but especially so for an enforcer. It's really a shame Boogaard has run into all these injury problems lately. Hopefully he can get past this and come back strong.
On the bright side, let's see what Kassian can do with the opportunity that may be presenting itself. |
I'm not trying to be a smartass here. But, could these concussion problems be a case of karma biting Boogaard in the ass for all the head injuries that he's dished out to others over the years? :eyebrow: Food for thought...
|
Another one bites the dust?
Am I wrong in thinking that Boogey's heyday is pretty much over? With back problems and now head problems, I believe Boogey is fading fast, and will possibly never be a full-time enforcer again, too soon? I know he's young, but it just doesn't look good for him. |
