Dallas Stars Activate Brenden Morrow From IR

FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that left wing Brenden Morrow has been activated from the injured reserve list. Morrow, who sustained severed tendons in his right wrist on Dec. 26 at Chicago, will join the team on its road trip to Nashville, where the Stars will face off against the Predators on Saturday.

In 28 games for Dallas this season, Morrow has recorded 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points with 29 penalty minutes. In September, Morrow was signed to a six-year contract extension through the 2012-13 season, and was named the club’s fifth captain since moving to Dallas. During the 2005-06 season, Morrow set new career highs in assists (42) and points (65) and led the club in plus/minus (+30). He was the only player in the NHL last season to register more than 20 goals and 125 penalty minutes.

Dallas’ first round pick (No. 25 overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Morrow has skated in 479 career NHL games and has posted 130 goals and 159 assists for 289 points with 785 penalty minutes. The native of Carlyle, Sask., has also skated in 53 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Stars, notching 24 points (six goals and 18 assists) and 60 penalty minutes.

Best news I've heard all day!!!! With Morrow coming back, Barnaby, Ott and Lindross towards the playoffs we should be a contending team this year!! We need some grit, I just hope they don't send Barch down.

Ott probably wont be coming back this year, broken ankle.

Barnaby is up in the air, with PCS.

Good news for Dallas. Morrow is their captain and he is a great leader, so it's obvious that they need him back in the lineup. He is also a gritty player and he can drop the gloves when necessary, and the Stars need a lot of help when it comes to fighting. Barch can't do it all, and they will take all of the help that they can get when it comes to toughness, so they will love having Morrow back. Now they just need Barnaby back so they will be able to carry four pretty good middleweights (Barch, Barnaby, Morrow, Boucher). Once Barnaby gets back, their team should be a lot tougher.
