D.J. King Assigned to Peoria for Conditioning

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Saturday the club has assigned left winger D.J. King to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen on a conditioning assignment.

King, 25, played in one game this season on Oct. 24 vs. Dallas, posting five penalty minutes. He has played in five games with the Rivermen, registering an assist and seven penalty minutes. The 6-3, 230-pound forward has skated in 90 National Hockey League games, all with the Blues, recording nine points (four goals, five assists) along with 157 penalty minutes.

The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 190th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft

Yeah, he'll go down to Peoria and test the hand out. At least his shoulder had extra time to heal. I don't know what the Blues will do with their line up after he gets back. Janssen is a part time scratch and Winchester has finally shown he can play. I doubt if you see King and Janssen in the line up at the same time.

If King can show he is healthy and can stay that way then maybe Janssen gets moved at or before the deadline, since as you say with Crombeen and Winchester also there, they all can't play at once.

I'd take Bam Bam on my team anyday. At least he's durable. King will be hurt again in notime.

I'd take him too but with 4 guys who can and will drop them when healthy(and its true, with DJ you never know)something or someone has gotta give. I think they would keep Crombeen over Janssen and Winchester can do more than just fight. If healthy, King is a contender for the fight crown so that leaves Janssen. But what the hell do I know?

I'm not saying you're wrong. For me, as a fight fan, I'd rather keep Janssen. I'd take him over any of the other three. I know he's pretty useless offensively, but he hits like a truck & will fight just about anybody. Bam Bam's always been a favorite of mine.

I'd take a busted up King over Jannssen anyday

I love Janssen but King can actually intimidate other tough guys

Yeah, as far as straight up enforcers go, King would be preferrable to Janssen although you can't really go wrong with either.

Your right but King won't be winning the Maurice Richard trophy anytime soon.

I'm going to take some schitt for this... but is he really deserving of all the hype? I mean ... he's only had 30 NHL fights ... and most of them were against the western guys like Parros, Shelley, Hordi, Thornton, and of course Boogey who appears to have his number. His injury problems aren't helping the matter ....

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying he isn't a good fighter ... I just wonder if he hasn't been propelled to hero status here despite an average card and inactivity...

Just sayin'.

I see DJ King and rehab in the title and say, "not again"...

I agree. The guy has great potential and we have seen signs of
that with some of his fights but he needs to stay healthy and
be more active until he makes my top 5 at least.

The "hype" is over a guy who has the potential to be top dog if he can stay healthy.
His fights w/Boogard are proof enough

Hopefully he can actually get "conditioned" on this conditioning stint.
